Leaving a Twix candy bar in the refrigerator for over an hour will diminish the characteristic combination of cookie crunch and smooth and silky caramel, as the cooled caramel hardens to a thick, rubbery substance which is somewhat resistant to normal candy chewing. This resistance thereby reduces the underlying cookie crunch to a hardly noticeable after effect, and the very foundation upon which Twix has built its mass appeal almost entirely disappears.

Those seeking to enjoy the harmonious coincidental synchronicity of cookie crunch and caramel should thereby enjoy Twix candy bars at room temperature and are discouraged from storing the candy bars in the refrigerator.

We went and saw Star Trek on Memorial day, and man oh man was it sweet. Can’t say that I was a real trekkie at any stage of my life, but I was always drawn to the original ’60s Trek series by the cold, logical likes of Spock, and likewise to The Next Generation by the equally emotionless entity of Data.

As testament to my non-trekkieness, I had no idea that Spock was actually a hapa, and that he had to struggle to repress emotions brought on by his human side. I still dug this portrayal, nonetheless, but kinda wish he backed away from those kisses with some kind of cool, non-feeling Spockist quote, instead of letting himself go. C’mon Spock!

Anyways, so that’s the golden nugget of the week. Shine shine.

Hey hey hey.

If I could, I’d host a thousand blogs.

I have that many stories to tell. Just not enough time to tell ‘em.

So in the meantime, feast your swollen pink eyes on my latest auxilliary blog; a fond recall of the L.A. ’80s Mod & Ska Underground. Sigh…

Those Were The Days.

So said the skinhead…

I’m usually not much for cross-promotion…Lefty Limbo typically is for my random artsy stuff and perhaps any current wreckage and or havoc wreaked by my rug rat…but I couldn’t resist plugging an online interview which I’ve just finished, one in fond recall of my fun and glorious days as a mod and skinhead, 20 years ago. I figured if I spent so much time writing out the answers, I may as well share it with as many people as I can, right? Click click click away, my bed-headed brethren and brethrettes…Enjoy!

So I went out and voted. Guess I made my mark in the annals (hyuk hyuk) of history, as participating in the largest voter turnout ever in American history, or so they say.

It felt kinda cool…there was no line and there was a chilly wind. I kinda want to get my free Starbucks coffee to warm me up, but I don’t feel like driving to the nearest one. So whatever.

Sorry if I’ve been scarce, but it seems that my comic, I Was A Teenage Filipino Skinhead, has taken a sudden leap in sales, namely because I’ve finally dished out another 5 issues after a long, long slump. So I’ve been living over on my livejournal site for the past few weeks, and will continue to do so as I hash this thing out s’more.

I’ll try to stop by every now and then to drop some knowledge…if ya really wanna see me, hit me up at my LJ site, k? Thanks…lates.

A day or two ago, during one of my infrequent views of the nightly news (I might as well watch Faces of Death), they reported a milestone for the Chinese space program, as Chinese astronauts completed their first spacewalk.

As they showed various footage of the groundbreaking astronauts, the news reporter (off camera) laughed. Wonder why.

25 years ago, I was able to buy 3 candy bars for a dollar at the local Lucky’s supermarket. I typically chose a Nestle Crunch bar, an Annabelle’s Rocky Road, and a peanut M&Ms. That particular combination really hit the spot. This was before King Size bars, and before king size prices.

Right around the same time, the local Alpha Beta supermarket sold day-old dozen donuts for $1.99. During summer vacations, my cousins and I would ride our bikes there and pick up a box in the evening, to eat while watching rented movies or between making home videos of our own.

Those days were so fun.

Sent through my iPhone direct from Madagascar:

I’ve been feeding lemurs for the past month or so and haven’t had access to the internet. I was finally able to grab a plane to Kenya and purchase an iPhone from a newly opened Apple store in downtown Nairobi (Waaqni sii haa kennu Oromo!). It’s pretty cool. Anyways, I’m doing fine and will update you ASAP. Chow for now!

Fun time.

I’m totally not a YouTube freak, but I do have my own little collection of favorites from the times I’ve visited. The above vid is one of a series of G.I. Joe PSA spoofs, where they take the original animation from the ’80s G.I. Joe series (which I nearly religiously watched back then) and add their own wickedly random and crazy dialogue/audio. This one’s definitely my favorite of them all. I was totally dying the first time I saw it, and even now I can’t get enough of it. Deliciously, deliciously random. Enjoy.

In other news, I found even more pictures from my 10th birthday party (scroll down), which I’ll post soon to update my treasure trove of O.p.-shorted, Vans slip-onned memories.
